GODWIT GOSSIP

The junior syndicate have been learning about local sea birds.
We had Pam McConnell come to talk to us about one very special bird called the 'GODWIT'
We think this bird is quite amazing! we learnt alot of interesting facts about this bird.
DID YOU KNOW that the Godwit takes a long journey from Nelson all the way to ALASKA?
It stops off at the yellow seas on the way for a rest, then carries on.
They flap their wings the whole way and don;t stop to sleep or feed for 7 days!!!
They even fly right through the night!!
We pretended to be Godwits and ran once around the field flapping our arms! that was hard work!
Imagine doing that non stop for 7 days!!!!

FUZZY WUZZY CUTE VISITORS!

Room 14 had the pleasure of having 4 VERY CUTE visitors come to visit this morning!
Sophia and her family have fostered 4 kittens from the SPCA.
They have been taking care of them and feeding them 4 times a day!
Their names are Hazel, Snuggles, Snowball and Bear.
We all got to have cuddles with them! take a look at our cute pics!

MUD FLAT FUN!

We went to the Sandflats with Room 3 and we saw loads of crabs, Chitons, Seaweed, Shellfish, strange shells and we even found a baby eel!! check out our cool Photos!

ROCK STAR VISITOR!

On Friday, we had a special visitor come to perform at our junior assembly.
Bryce Wastney! He is a local singer, songwriter and is Deb's big brother!
We had a great time singing along with him and we really love his music!

Sophia performed 'Smoke on the water'  and Bryce played along too!

3,2,1 BLAST OFF!! We loved the astronaut song!

Blake is the perfect size to fit inside Bryce's amp case! nice one Blake! thanks for helping Bryce pack up his gear!

One of our reading groups had the story 'You can make a Happy Cake' by: Miriam Goyner.
We were lucky enough to have 2 wonderful parents come in and work with us to make our very own Happy Cake!
